A FCT-funded project (ref 2022.06292.PTDC) aimed at the development of an ANALYTICAL platform that combines Mass Spectrometry and Machine learning algorithms for subtyping hypertensive patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) and resistant hypertension (RHTN).

Tackling the challenges posed by New Psychoactive Substances (NPS)

This  is a collaborative project between CQE (IST), FC-UL, BioISO, IBB and Scientific Police of Polícia Judiciária, aimed at providing tools to tackle the challenges posed by NPS use. Our contribution is: 1) to identify the metabolite profile of emerging NPS, which can help the identification of biomarkers of exposure in forensic and clinical contexts; 2) identify the underlying mechanisms of NPS-induced toxic events, which can shade light into the mechanisms of chemically-induced neurotoxic events, thereby helping to develop safer chemical agents; 3) educating the general public about the risks posed by the use of these substances (e.g. participation in TV shoes and open days initiatives)
